I help teams understand what's broken, why it matters, and what to do about it.

I'm a product designer based in Sydney, focused on research-led UX — audits, information architecture, interaction design, and turning messy briefs into clear recommendations. I work across corporate, consumer, and internal product.

Scaling team velocity with automation — before anyone asked.

As the design chapter grew, leadership had no unified view of what 10+ designers were working on. I noticed the gap, built the solution without a brief, and handed over a live dashboard before the problem had a name.

// Jira → Sheets Pipeline · Apps Script function syncDesignBoard() { const tickets = fetchJira('chapter=design'); mapToSheet(tickets, MASTER_SHEET); // refreshes every 60s — zero manual input }

Phase two used the Figma REST API to crawl the entire design workspace — surfacing every detached or legacy component across hundreds of files. A 40+ hour manual audit reduced to a 10-minute script run.

Why store teams were missing orders — and what to do about it.

Store staff weren't receiving order notifications reliably. Delivery drivers were arriving before the notification. I ran seven in-store interviews across high and low volume BWS locations to diagnose the failure modes across three disconnected systems — POS, RF device, and ECF.

POSMost used · most flawed
RF DeviceSilences at 47+ notifications
ECFNo notifications at all

Delivered 12 prioritised recommendations across order notifications and order management, tiered by effort and impact.

Does a homepage video help or hurt conversion?

Designed an uplift to the BWS homepage video unit — moving the header below the video, full-width carousel, and a brand-approved colour background to connect the video to the product. Brand approved March 2025.

The split result told its own story — desktop and mobile needed different solutions. Recommended pausing mobile, iterating on the design, and retesting. Estimated incremental revenue if both platforms optimised: $430k–$600k p.a.

About

Research first.
Design second.

I'm Jon — a product designer who leans heavily on research, data, and structured thinking before touching a frame. My background sits at the intersection of UX strategy and execution: I'm as comfortable in a heuristic evaluation as I am in Figma.

I've worked across corporate websites, consumer apps, and internal tooling. I care about making the right thing before making the thing right — which means a lot of time understanding the problem before proposing a solution.

Based in Sydney. Open to product design roles, UX audits, and research-led engagements.
